Glossary

Ordinal

Unique digital assets inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain, representing NFTs (non-fungible tokens) with Bitcoin's security and durability.

B-Ordinal

A yield-bearing Ordinal tied to Bitcoin or Stacks (STX) for passive income generation and aligned with Bitcoin's price movements.

Peg Value

The amount of Bitcoin (BTC) or Stacks (STX) locked to define an Ordinal's intrinsic floor price and yield potential.

T-Lock (Time Lock)

A mechanism to lock the peg value for a specific duration, allowing yield generation with the ability to unstake later.

Yield

Passive income earned by time-locking the peg value of an Ordinal, typically distributed as Bitcoin (BTC) rewards.

Liquid Staking

The process of staking digital assets while retaining their liquidity and yield generation capabilities.

Swap

The action of exchanging the peg value of an Ordinal for Bitcoin, stablecoins, or other assets to hedge risks or realize gains.

Recharge

A feature allowing users to add Bitcoin to the peg value of their Ordinals, boosting yields and market value.

Stake

The act of locking the peg value of an Ordinal to earn yields while maintaining ownership of the asset.

Unstake

The process of withdrawing a time-locked peg value after the lock duration ends.

Floor Price

The minimum market value of an Ordinal, determined by its pegged Bitcoin or STX value.

APY (Annual Percentage Yield)

The annualized return on a staked Ordinal, including compounded yields.

Smart Contracts

Blockchain-based automated agreements that facilitate secure, permissionless transactions on BlockCity.

Delegation

Assigning peg values to consensus mechanisms like Stacks PoX for additional Bitcoin rewards.

Consensus Mechanism

The protocol by which blockchain networks validate transactions; in BlockCity, this includes Proof of Transfer (PoX) for Stacks.

Proof of Transfer (PoX)

A consensus mechanism used in the Stacks blockchain, allowing users to earn Bitcoin by staking STX.

Collector

An individual who purchases, holds, and earns yields from Ordinals.

Creator

An artist or developer who mints Ordinals and earns residual income from their sales and value growth.

Marketplace

A platform within BlockCity for buying, selling, and trading Ordinals.

Borrowing

Using pegged assets as collateral to secure liquidity without selling Ordinals.

Wash Trading

A prohibited practice where fake transactions are used to inflate the perceived value of assets, prevented by BlockCity.

Stablecoin

A cryptocurrency pegged to a stable asset, such as the US dollar, used in swaps to hedge against market volatility.
